Cell Phone Santa
made its debut two years ago at the SoWa Holiday Market. Back by popular
demand, this promotion for Washington Gateway Main Street, helped to
raise much needed funds for the community coordinating organization, and
made shopping at the market even more fun!
One ticket for $5, or three for $10 will be on sale at the Cell Phone Santa booth.
Red capped Santas will display the gifts you can win. Shoppers will write just their cell phone
numbers (no need for any other info) on the tickets and into the fish
bowl they will go. Every 15 minutes, an entry will be drawn and the
winning cell phone number called by Santa’s helpers. Winners will be
directed to come back to the booth to pick up their prize card from the Cell
Phone Santa gallery of gifts which can then be redeemed by visiting the
vendor’s booth on the holiday market floor or participating local
businesses in the South End.
Be sure to look for Cell Phone Santa at the Holiday Market!
About
Washington Gateway
Since its designation as a Boston Main
Street in 1997, Washington Gateway has guided the development of
Washington Street in the South End/Lower Roxbury. The district runs 1.4
miles along Washington Street from Herald Street to Melnea Cass
Boulevard. Mobilizing hundreds of volunteers and working through
partnerships with neighborhood organizations, real estate developers,
government and businesses, Gateway's success can be seen today in new
businesses, storefront improvements, residential / commercial
developments, preservation projects, and rejuvenated open space.
Gateway has had the unique opportunity to rebuild a
commercial/residential district that had been nearly lost. In doing so,
it has successfully employed all the latest ideas for community
development. Renovated historic buildings, new market-rate loft
apartments, mixed-income developments, urban renewal era low-income
housing projects, 100 year old businesses and trendy new shops make the
district one of the most diverse. There is something in the Gateway
story for everyone interested in preservation and revitalization.
Washington Gateway Main Street is pleased to be involved for another
year with the Holiday Market. Our participation in this great event
allows us to showcase our unique business district and our annual Cell
Phone Santa is a fun way for shoppers to support this grass roots
organization and experience some of the wonderful artisans and
businesses we have in the Gateway area. Shoppers will have the
opportunity to learn about and become members of this nationally
recognized Main Streets program and should be sure to pick up their FREE
Boston Community Change card that offers shopping discounts in all of
Boston's Main Street districts while supporting Main Streets and the
non-profit organization of your choice.
